The University of Calabar has suspended 19 students for one academic session over alleged examination malpractice.

The suspension, covering the 2025/2026 session, was approved by the University Senate based on recommendations from the Students’ Disciplinary Committee. The affected students are expected to resume in the 2026/2027 session.

The directive was contained in a letter signed by the Director of Administration, Dr. Ekpo Citizen, on behalf of the Registrar, Dr. Chukwuka Icha.

The Head of Public Relations in the institution, Mr. Effiong Eyo when contacted, confirmed the development to NAN. He said the students cut across several faculties including Administration, Social Sciences, Biological Sciences, Arts, Education, Allied Medical Sciences, Pharmacy, Environmental Sciences, Nursing, Peace and Conflict Studies, Science Lab Tech, Estate Management, and Marketing.

Eyo added that all Deans, HODs and relevant units have been instructed to enforce the suspension.
