C'River Govt Temporarily Relocates NYSC Camp From Obubra to Akamkpa

The Cross River State Government has announced the temporary relocation of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Permanent Orientation Camp from Obubra to the University of Education and Entrepreneurship, Akamkpa.

This was contained in a press release signed by the Secretary to Government of the State, Prof. Anthony Owan Enoh.

According to the release, the decision which has the approval of the Governor, Senator Bassey Otu is to allow for comprehensive renovation, remodeling and upgrading of the existing camp facilities at Obubra.

The government noted that the Obubra camp, which has served the Scheme over the years, has become overstretched and requires urgent intervention to meet modern standards and provide a more conducive, safe and befitting environment for Corps Members.

Government emphasized that the relocation is strictly temporary, adding that the camp will return to Obubra upon completion of the renovation works.

The statement added that the University of Education and Entrepreneurship, Akamkpa, has been assessed and found to have adequate facilities, including hostels, water, electricity, parade ground and security architecture, to host a hitch-free orientation exercise.

It appealed to all stakeholders to give the initiative understanding and support as the government continues to invest in infrastructure that enhances youth development and national service.

The temporal relocation comes after reports of  delapidated facilities at the permanent NYSC camp in Obubra which led to the alleged suspension of deployment of the present batch of incoming Corps members to the state.
