The All Progressives Congress (APC) in ONNA Local Government Area has taken significant steps toward consolidating its political structure, as party stakeholders and defectors from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) came together in a landmark harmonization meeting aimed at uniting forces ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The meeting, which was convened by Hon. Patrick Ifon and held at Mc Love Resort on Saturday, brought together a broad coalition of political leaders, former office holders, and grassroots mobilizers. It resulted in a strong reaffirmation of support for the re-election bids of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Umo Eno, PhD.
In his opening address, ONNA APC Chapter Chairman, Mr. Tom Nkanang, described the meeting as “historic,” noting that it marked a new chapter in the party’s development in the area.
“This is a turning point where we have chosen unity over division, hope over despair, and progress over politics as usual,”
“Our vision is to build a government and political platform that listens more, delivers more, and unites more.” - Nkanang said.
Hon. Patrick Ifon, a former PDP BoT member and Member of the House of Representatives, emphasized that the harmonization effort was not a power tussle but a collective decision to prioritize victory and inclusiveness.
“The PDP defectors are not here to disrupt the existing structure but to contribute meaningfully to the party’s success in 2027,”
“This unity will ensure we speak with one voice and work towards shared goals.” - Ifon assured.
The Commissioner of Finance, who also oversees Special Duties and Ibom Deep Seaport, Mr. Emem Bob, also addressed the gathering, praising the inclusive spirit of the meeting and underscoring the people-centered vision of the Tinubu and Umo Eno administrations.
“The policies of this administration are tailored toward improving the lives of our people,”
“We must continue to unite and mobilize at the grassroots for the success of both President Tinubu and Governor Umo Eno in 2027.” - Bob stated.
Also delivering his remarks, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr. Ekerete Udoh, emphasized the importance of grassroots participation in securing political victory.
Notable leaders, including Rt. Hon. Prince Akpabio Ukpa, Pst. Ephraim Inyang-Eyen, Archbishop Samuel Akpan, Dr. Owoideghe Ekpottai, Hon. Elder Uwem Andrew-Essien, Hon. Bassey Willie, and Barr. Ini Ikott, also lent their voices to the call for unity and transparency in political office distribution. They unanimously resolved to work diligently toward ensuring the success of APC candidates in the coming elections.
