Cross River Police Nab Suspects Over Burglary at Corps Members’ Lodge

The Cross River State Police Command has arrested two suspects in connection with a burglary at a corps members’ lodge in Ntamkpo community, Yakurr Local Government Area, where several electronic gadgets and personal belongings were stolen.

The incident occurred at about 5:30am on January 30, 2025, at the Nigerian Christian Corpers Fellowship lodge, while the occupants were away for morning devotion.

According to police sources, two corps members, Oladele Mathew and Afolabi Okikiola, reported that their rooms were broken into through the back entrance and several items were missing on their return.

Items allegedly stolen include three HP laptops and one Dell laptop valued at about ₦410,000, five power banks, two ear pods, an iTel P33+ mobile phone, school bags containing personal documents, and ₦15,000 in cash.

Confirming the arrest, the Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Eitokpah Sunday, said investigations led to the identification of a 40 year old suspect, Otu Omini Otu, who was handed over to the police by the Officer Commanding Military from 246 Barracks, Ikom, attached to Ugep. He said the suspect was recently released from the Obubra Correctional Facility and is known in the area.

He added that detectives from the Yakurr Divisional Police Headquarters later visited the scene and engaged community leaders and youth representatives as part of efforts to track other suspects.

This collaboration resulted in the arrest of another suspect, Isaiah Dennis Okoi, aged 29, at about 10:50am on February 7, 2026, with the assistance of a community chief, Sampson Okoi Ikpi.

The police said investigations are ongoing, while efforts are being intensified to recover the stolen items and apprehend any other persons connected to the crime.
