2027: C’River Central Stakeholders Rally Behind Eteng Williams
Traditional rulers, women leaders, and youth groups across the Central Senatorial District of Cross River State have thrown their weight behind Senator Eteng Jonah Williams, describing him as a tested leader whose strength lies in experience, loyalty, and a consistent record of performance.
The stakeholders, drawn from various communities across the six local government areas of the district, said Senator Williams has continued to distinguish himself as a calm, strategic, and result-oriented leader whose impact speaks louder than political propaganda.
They noted that unlike many politicians who seek relevance through unnecessary public drama, the senator has remained focused on governance, people-centered leadership, and unwavering support for Governor Bassey Otu and his “People First” agenda.
Speaking on behalf of the traditional rulers of Adun Kingdom, His Royal Majesty, Patrick Erong, the Kudiden of Adun Kingdom, described Senator Williams as a leader whose quiet nature should never be mistaken for weakness.
According to him, true leadership is measured by results and not by noise.
“Senator Eteng Jonah Williams is a man who understands leadership beyond politics. He is calm, humble, and deeply connected to the people. His leadership style is built on wisdom, patience, and strategic thinking,” he said.
He added, “Many people make noise to be seen, but Senator Eteng allows his performance to speak for him. Across the Central Senatorial District, the people know those who truly work for them, and he is one of them.”
Patrick Erong stated that the senator’s political maturity and stabilizing influence have continued to preserve peace and strengthen confidence among traditional institutions.
“Traditional rulers value stability and respect, and Senator Eteng Jonah Williams has continued to show both. He understands governance and respects the traditional institution. That is why our support for him remains strong,” he added.
Also speaking on behalf of royal fathers in Okum Kingdom, the Ohorodo of Okum, His Royal Majesty, Mbina Mbina III, said the senator has remained one of the strongest loyalists of Governor Bassey Otu and a dependable pillar within the political structure of the state.
He said Senator Williams has never been associated with betrayal or unnecessary political conflict, but has consistently worked for peace and development.
“In politics, loyalty is rare, but Senator Eteng Jonah Williams has remained loyal to leadership, loyal to the people, and loyal to the progress of Cross River Central,” Mbina Mbina III said.
He continued, “At a time when many people seek personal relevance through division, he has remained focused on unity, stability, and progress. That is leadership.”
Women Leader and former Vice Chairman of Ikom Local Government Area, Hon. Alice Erem, praised the senator for what she described as practical empowerment and life-changing support for women and families across the district.
She said his interventions in education, scholarships, and human capacity development have directly impacted many homes.
“Senator Eteng Jonah Williams is not a politician of promises; he is a politician of results. Many women and young people can testify to the support they have received from him over the years,” she said.
She added, “His scholarship programmes have opened doors for several students both within Nigeria and abroad. Families that once struggled to keep their children in school now have hope because of his interventions.”
According to her, his accessibility and willingness to listen to the people make him stand out among many leaders.
“He listens, he responds, and he acts.
That is why women across the district continue to stand with him,” she said.
On his part, youth leader and former councillor in Boki Local Government Area, Hon. Jacob Etta, described Senator Williams as a major force behind youth inclusion and political mentorship in the district.
He said the senator has consistently opened political space for younger leaders and has remained accessible to young people with genuine ambition.
“Senator Eteng Jonah Williams is cool, calm, collected, and unassuming, but politically, he is one of the strongest forces in Cross River Central. He does not fight for attention because his results naturally command respect,” Etta said.
He added, “As youths, we respect leaders who create opportunities, not leaders who only make speeches and terrorise people.Senator Eteng has supported many young people and helped many find direction in leadership.”
The stakeholders also recalled his four-year tenure as Speaker of the Cross River State House of Assembly, where they said he demonstrated exceptional legislative strength and strategic political influence.
According to them, his time as Speaker was marked by stability, institutional respect, and effective representation of the interests of the people.
“He was not just a Speaker in title; he was a Speaker in authority, wisdom, and responsibility. He protected the integrity of the legislature and represented the people with courage and maturity,” one of the leaders stated.
Across Yakurr, Abi, Ikom, Etung, Boki, and Obubra, the groups insisted that his political footprint remains visible through empowerment efforts, youth inclusion, grassroots engagement, and constituency development.
They maintained that while opposition voices may continue to rise, the people already know where true leadership stands.
“For us, this is beyond politics. It is about trust, consistency, and proven leadership. Senator Eteng Jonah Williams has earned the confidence of the people, and that support remains unshaken,” they concluded.
