Governor Otu has brought stability, continuity to governance in Cross River - Orok Duke

Cross River NDDC Rep, Rt. Hon. Orok Duke PhD, has commended Governor Bassey Edet Otu’s administration, stating that his leadership style has restored political stability and institutional continuity to the state.

Speaking in Calabar during a media chat, the NDDC Rep explained that Governor Otu’s governance approach focuses on building upon past achievements rather than abandoning previous projects, a trend that historically disrupted public infrastructure and state resources.

He noted that Governor Otu’s "People First" agenda has created a calm political atmosphere across the 18 Local Government Areas of the state. He stated that by engaging political stakeholders, traditional institutions, and past leadership, the governor has fostered an inclusive environment focused on progress.

"Governance is a continuum. What Governor Bassey Otu has achieved is providing a calm, focused, and steady direction for Cross River," Duke stated. "Instead of discarding initiatives from past administrations, he has systematically revived critical economic assets and ensured that public resources are maximized for the benefit of the people."

The former deputy speaker of the Cross River House of Assembly pointed to key institutional reforms and strategic infrastructure focus as evidence of administration stability. Among these initiatives is the consolidation of state revenue frameworks, the reactivation and repositioning of economic assets such as the Tinapa Business and Leisure Resort, and renewed diplomatic engagements with federal authorities to secure and restore the state's oil-producing status.

He also praised the state government's ongoing investments in security across the riverine areas and border corridors, stating that economic progress in sectors like agriculture, blue economy, and tourism cannot thrive without sustained peace.

Duke urged residents, political leaders, and commercial stakeholders across the state to continue supporting the current administration to allow for the full consolidation of its development agenda. He stressed that sustaining administrative continuity will position Cross River as a major hub for investment, agriculture, and tourism in the Niger Delta region.
