Unical IPPA To Host Public Lecture On Coastal Insecurity And National Development

The Institute of Public Policy and Administration (IPPA), University of Calabar, is set to host a high-level Public Lecture onThursday 16th July, 2026, commencing from 11:00 a.m. at the ASUU Secretariat, University of Calabar.

The lecture, themed "Coastal Insecurity and National Development: Addressing Maritime Vulnerabilities in Nigeria," will bring together leading scholars, policymakers, security experts, and stakeholders to examine the growing challenges of maritime insecurity and its implications for Nigeria's economic growth and national security.

The Vice Chancellor of the University of Calabar, Prof. Offiong E. Offiong, will serve as the Chief Host, while the Commandant, Naval War College Nigeria, Rear Admiral M.A. Muye, will deliver the keynote address as the Distinguished Guest Speaker.

The event which is hosted by the Director of IPPA, Prof. Grace Reuben Etuk, will have Senator Asuquo Ekpenyong as the Chairman.

The public lecture is expected to stimulate informed discussions on practical strategies for strengthening Nigeria's maritime security architecture, safeguarding coastal resources, and promoting sustainable national development.

Members of the university community, government agencies, security institutions, researchers, students, the media, and the general public are cordially invited to attend.
