The University of Education and Entrepreneurship (UEE), Akamkpa, has joined Nigerians in celebrating the nation’s 65th Independence Anniversary while commending the Governor of Cross River State, Senator Bassey Edet Otu, for what it described as his commitment to education and sustainable development.

In a message signed by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Patrick Asuquo, the institution congratulated Governor Otu and his wife, Rev. Eyoawan Bassey Otu, noting that their leadership has continued to inspire progress in the state.

Prof. Asuquo observed that Nigeria’s 65th independence anniversary serves as a moment for reflection on the country’s unity and resilience since 1960. He praised the governor’s “People First” mantra, which he said has provided direction for socio-economic growth and human capacity development.

He also highlighted the establishment of the University of Education and Entrepreneurship, Akamkpa, as evidence of the governor’s investment in human capital development. The institution, which was founded in 2023 as part of the state government’s reforms in the education sector, is focused on training teachers, entrepreneurs, and innovators to meet the demands of a rapidly evolving global economy.

“The university remains committed to fostering knowledge, innovation, and collaboration in alignment with the vision of making Cross River State a hub for educational advancement and economic empowerment,” the Vice-Chancellor stated.

He added that UEE is strategically positioned to raise a new generation of leaders equipped to contribute to both state and national development.

The institution concluded its message by wishing the governor and his family peace and strength as the state marks Nigeria’s 65th independence anniversary.
