Tragedy in Calabar as Man Allegedly Beats 10 -yrs old Daughter to Death

A twenty four year old man identified as Joseph Emmanuel has been arrested by the police in Calabar, Cross River State, for allegedly beating his ten year old daughter to death.

The incident was said to have occurred after the child reportedly misplaced her father’s petrol pipe, an item he uses for his commercial motorcycle business. The disagreement allegedly degenerated into violence, resulting in fatal injuries to the girl.

The incident sparked outrage among residents of the area, with angry neighbours attempting to lynch the suspect before the intervention of police operatives. Emmanuel was rescued from the mob and taken into custody. He was said to have sustained injuries during the incident.

Sources disclosed that the suspect later confessed to beating the child, claiming he was provoked. The victim was confirmed dead shortly after the assault.

The Cross River State Police Command has commenced investigation into the matter, while the suspect remains in custody. Police sources said Emmanuel is expected to be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.
