By Ekanem Asuquo

The Cross River State Police Command has dismissed reports that Hon. Ovat Dickson Agbor, the lawmaker representing Obubra 1 State Constituency in the State House of Assembly, was arrested over a domestic dispute involving his wife.

In a statement released on Monday, the Police clarified that both Hon. Agbor and his wife voluntarily responded to an official invitation for questioning regarding the complaint. The couple reportedly expressed willingness to resolve their differences following appeals made by the lawmaker’s wife.

The Police confirmed that Hon. Agbor has since been released to a reliable surety. The case file will be forwarded to the Office of the Attorney-General for legal advice once the ongoing investigation is concluded.

ASP Eitokpah Sunday, Police Public Relations Officer, emphasized that the matter is being handled professionally and in accordance with established legal procedures, noting that the investigation is still ongoing.

The clarification comes amid widespread social media speculation and public discussions about the lawmaker’s alleged arrest, prompting the Police to set the record straight.

Authorities urged the public to rely on verified information and allow due process to take its course as the investigation continues.
