Tinubu Reshuffles Military Leadership, Appoints New Service Chiefs

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved a major shake-up in the top hierarchy of the Nigerian Armed Forces, appointing new Service Chiefs to lead the nation’s defence structure.

The new appointments, which take immediate effect, include General Olufemi Oluyede as the Chief of Defence Staff, replacing General Christopher Musa.

Also appointed are Major-General W. Shaibu as Chief of Army Staff, Air Vice Marshal S. K. Aneke as Chief of Air Staff, and Rear Admiral I. Abbas as Chief of Naval Staff.

The Chief of Defence Intelligence, Major-General E. A. P. Undiendeye, retains his position.

In a statement announcing the development, the Presidency said the move is part of ongoing efforts to strengthen national security and improve coordination among the armed services.

President Tinubu expressed appreciation to the outgoing Service Chiefs for their “patriotic contributions and dedicated service to the nation,” urging the newly appointed officers to demonstrate professionalism and uphold the unity and integrity of Nigeria.

The President further charged the new military leadership to remain vigilant and proactive in addressing emerging security threats across the country.
