Tinubu Appoints Taiwo Oyedele as Minister of State for Finance, Reassigns Uzoka-Anite

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has named Taiwo Oyedele as the new Minister of State for Finance, taking over from Dr. Doris Uzoka-Anite.

The development was announced by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy. According to him, Uzoka-Anite has been reassigned to the Ministry of Budget and National Planning, where she will serve as Minister of State.

This marks the third position she has held under the current administration.

In a related move, the President has forwarded Oyedele’s name to the Senate for confirmation. The nomination was formally communicated in a letter addressed to the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio.

Before his nomination, Oyedele, who hails from Ikaram in Akoko, Ondo State, chaired the Presidential Committee on Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms. The committee was responsible for major reforms that reshaped Nigeria’s tax system.

At 50, Oyedele is an economist, accountant, and public policy specialist. He earned a Higher National Diploma in Accountancy and Finance from Yaba College of Technology and later obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Applied Accounting from Oxford Brookes University.

He has also completed executive programmes at the London School of Economics, Yale University, the Gordon Institute of Business Science, and the Harvard Kennedy School.

Oyedele built a significant part of his professional career at PwC, where he worked for 22 years after joining in 2001. During his time there, he rose to become Fiscal Policy Partner and Africa Tax Leader.

In addition to his professional achievements, he serves as a professor at Babcock University in Ogun State and is a visiting scholar at the Lagos Business School.
