Tinubu appoints Engr. Eneji, others to NEMSA board

President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of new management and board members for strategic federal agencies, including the Nigerian Electricity Management Services Agency and the Sheda Science and Technology Complex in Abuja.

A statement from the State House announced the appointment of Engr. Adesayo Olusegun Michael as Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of NEMSA. The President also constituted a new board for the agency to enhance regulatory oversight and operational efficiency in the electricity sector.

Members of the NEMSA board are Engr. Aliyu Abdulazeez as Executive Director Technical, Ikechi Clara Nwosu as Chairman representing the South East, Zubair Abdur’rauf Idris, Igba Elizabeth representing the North Central, Sani Alhaji Shehu representing the North East, Adeyemi Adetunji representing the South West, Engr. Emmanuel Eneji Nkpeh representing the South South, and Engr. Charles Ogbonna Asogwa representing the South East.

President Tinubu also appointed Hon. Magaji Da’u Aliyu as Managing Director of the Sheda Science and Technology Complex. The complex is a federal research institution tasked with technology focused research and development, including the operation of a nuclear research facility.

In addition, the President nominated Amina Gamawa from Bauchi State and Abdullahi Muktar from Kaduna State as Commissioners of the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission. Their nominations have been forwarded to the Senate for confirmation.

Engr. Emmanuel Eneji Nkpeh, one of the newly appointed NEMSA board members, is a seasoned power systems engineer and energy management expert with over two decades of experience in Nigeria’s electricity industry. A member of the Nigerian Society of Engineers and a COREN registered engineer, he has served in key technical and advisory roles across the power sector. He previously worked at the Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company as Head of Protection, Control and Metering, where he played a major role in improving power distribution reliability. He has also served as a Senior Electrical Power Consultant to the Akwa Ibom State power sector, contributing to the design and commissioning of substations and high voltage infrastructure across Southern Nigeria.

A native of Bekwarra Local Government Area of Cross River State, Engr. Nkpeh served as Senior Special Adviser on Power to the Governor of Cross River State between 2020 and 2023 and continues to provide technical and policy support on energy development initiatives. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Electronics Engineering and a Master’s degree in Power System Engineering from the Cross River University of Technology and is currently pursuing a doctoral degree in Power Systems.

The Presidency said the appointments are part of ongoing efforts to strengthen key institutions and drive improved service delivery and national development.
