Senator Williams Condoles Oden Ewa Over Father’s Demise

Senator Eteng Jonah Williams, who represents Cross River Central Senatorial District, has commiserated with the Commissioner for Special Duties and Inter-Governmental Relations, Mr. Oden Ewa, over the death of his father, Professor Ibiang Oden Ewa.
The late Prof. Ewa, a respected academic, historian, and community leader, passed away on Sunday, May 11, 2025, at the age of 65.
In a condolence message, Senator Williams described the late professor as “a hardworking and honest man” who left a lasting mark on the academic and civic landscape. He served as a lecturer in the Department of History and International Studies at the University of Uyo, where he was celebrated for his dedication to scholarship and mentorship.
“Your father, Prof. Ibiang Oden. Ewa, was a renowned academician, historian, and community leader who showed love, compassion, and respect to all who came in contact with him,” Senator Williams stated. “Though his passing has created a vacuum in your family and among loved ones, I urge you to remain strong and take solace in the legacy he leaves behind.”
The senator, who chairs the Senate Committee on Petroleum Resources (Upstream), extended his condolences on behalf of himself and the people of Cross River Central Senatorial District, praying for God to grant the family strength and peace.
According to the family, Prof. Ibiang Oden Ewa will be laid to rest on Saturday, August 9, 2025, at the Ewa Family Compound in Ugep, Yakurr Local Government Area of Cross River State.
