Construction work on the Ibiaragidi, Anyikang and Utukwe road project in Bekwarra Local Government Area of Cross River State has advanced to the stone base stage following the successful completion of drainage and earthworks by engineers handling the project.
The latest development marks a significant milestone in the execution of the road project facilitated by Senator Jarigbe Agom and being handled by JRB Construction Company.
The transition to the stone base phase is expected to accelerate the pace of work and move the project closer to completion in line with the approved timeline.
Residents of the benefiting communities expressed excitement over the steady progress recorded on the project, describing it as a major intervention capable of transforming transportation and economic activities within the area.
When completed, the road is expected to improve connectivity among Ibiaragidi, Anyikang and Utukwe communities while easing the movement of people and goods across Bekwarra Local Government Area.
Stakeholders noted that the project would particularly benefit farmers in the predominantly agrarian communities by improving access to markets and reducing post harvest losses associated with poor road conditions.
The road project has also been described as a landmark achievement for Bekwarra, with residents noting that it is the first major road construction project facilitated for the area by a lawmaker.
Community members commended Senator Jarigbe for attracting the project and praised the engineers for the quality and speed of execution.
Community leaders further stated that the road would enhance access to healthcare and educational facilities while strengthening social and economic interactions among the affected communities.
Senator Jarigbe has continued to maintain focus on infrastructural development and human capital advancement across the Cross River North Senatorial District.
