ROAD TO NUGA BEGINS AS UNICAL FLAGS-OFF SPORTS FOR ALL CEREMONY  ...Declares Wednesday 24th Lecture Free Day

The Management of the University of Calabar has announced the commencement of activities marking the Sports for All Flag-Off Ceremony for staff and students of the institution.

According to a circular signed by the Registrar, Dr. (Mrs.) Chukwuka I. Icha, the ceremony holds on Wednesday, 24th June, 2026, at the Abraham Ordia Stadium, University of Calabar, beginning at 1:30 p.m. prompt.

The circular further explains that the event is in preparation for the forthcoming NUGA Games to be hosted by the University of Calabar and is in line with the approval of Senate declaring Wednesdays, except on Inaugural Lecture days, as Sporting Activities Day in the University.

It notes that all staff and students are expected to be seated by 1:30 p.m. before the arrival of the Vice Chancellor.

Management also directs all Deans, Heads of Departments and Units to attend the ceremony and release their staff and students to participate fully in the event.

The circular further states that Wednesday, 24th June, 2026, has been declared lecture-free from 1:00 p.m. to enable members of the University Community to attend the flag-off ceremony.
