Prof. Ikpeme Takes Over as UNICAL CES Director

There has been a change of baton at the Centre For Educational Services (CES), University of Calabar, as the erstwhile Director, Prof Alex Timothy, hands over the baton of Directorship to Prof. (Mrs) Ekei Ikpeme.

During a brief handing-over ceremony to the newly appointed Director, Prof. (Mrs.) Ekei Ikpeme), and Deputy Director, Dr. Ndem Bassey at the auditorium of the Center for Educational Services, the Outgone Director Prof. Alex Timothy hinted that the staff of the centre for educational studies are staff with good fortunes, describing them as diligent, obedient and supportive all through his tenure as Director.

Prof. Timothy who urged staff of Centre to give the necessary support and maximum cooperation to the new Director said Prof. (Mrs.) Ekei Ikpeme is someone with a listening ear who is ever ready to stand and fight with them.

The outgone Director also urged the Staff to be of their best behaviour with a view to changing the narrative that the centre is leaving in its past glory, and rather ensure they contribute their quota to making it a centre for excellence.

To the Deputy Director, Dr. Ndem Bassey, the outgone Director said he is a business tycoon that is robust, versatile and very exposed in knowledge, noting that as a team, he has no doubt that they will make giant strides towards the growth and advancement of the Centre.

Responding, the new and substantive Director for Centre For Educational Studies, Prof. (Mrs) Ekei Ikpeme assured the staff of her willingness and readiness to work with them to take the centre to another level.

In her words, "No man can make a forest. No man is perfect, but we can all strive to be better." 

Prof Ikpeme also reiterated that she aims to align with the present Administration's mission and vision which hinges openness, thoroughness and punctuality.

She also charged the staff to exhibit teachable spirit, noting that, they should always be willing to learn and unlearn as no one has monopoly of universal knowledge.

Prof. Ikpeme asserted that the only way for them to succeed as a Directorate is to live and work in peace with everyone.

The highpoint of the event was a formal hand-over of documents and property of the Directorate to the new Director and her Deputy.
