Police to Conduct Routine Shooting Range Exercise in Akpabuyo
The Cross River State Police Command has announced plans to conduct a routine shooting range exercise as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen professionalism, operational readiness and public safety across the state.
According to a statement issued on Monday, January 26, 2026, by the Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Sunday Eitokpah, the exercise will take place on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, by 8:00am, at Asabanka, Anyanganse Community, Akpabuyo Local Government Area.
The Command explained that the exercise is aimed at retraining police personnel and inspecting service arms and other operational equipment, in line with established professional policing standards.
Residents of the area and members of the public have been assured that the exercise is a routine security activity, and should not give rise to panic, despite the expected increase in police presence or the sound of gunfire during the training.
The Police Command has, however, advised residents, farmers and passersby to stay away from the shooting range and its immediate surroundings for the duration of the exercise, as a precautionary measure to prevent accidental exposure and psychological distress that may arise from the sound of gunshots.
The statement further emphasised that the safety of the public remains a top priority of the Command, noting that adequate measures have been put in place to ensure that the exercise is conducted in a controlled and professional manner.
The Cross River State Police Command expressed appreciation to members of the public for their understanding, patience and continued cooperation, reaffirming its commitment to maintaining peace, security and public confidence across the state.
