PDP CHAIRMAN, VENA IKEM DECLARES CROSS RIVER A PDP STATE

Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party in Cross River State, Barr. Venatius Ikem has declared Cross River a PDP State.

Addressing Party delegates today, shortly after the State Congress of the party which held at Venatian Mall along Murtala Muhammed Highway, Calabar, Nkem, who was re-elected to serve for a second term in office, swiftly declared the state a PDP state and said that his party still remains relevant regardless of its current challenges, which according to him will soon be surmounted.

“Our party is still popular and relevant in Cross River State. It is obvious from the large number of party faithful who have thronged this venue for the state party congress. We can recall that our party, the Peoples Democratic Party has been rooted in Cross River State since 1999. Regardless of our challenges, which is common anywhere and will be surmountable, our party has a bright chance of winning the 2027 election at the state.” Nkem, said.

Also speaking, the leader of the party at the state, Sen. Agom Jarigbe, said that the congress was a legitimate one and remains valid. He called on aggrieved party faithful to forget the past and forge ahead with the party to record successes at future polls. “This Congress is a legitimate one. It is the congress that is validated and you could see from the delegates who came out to choose their leaders.”

Meanwhile, the party gubernatorial candidate at the state, Ntufam, Prof. Sandy Onor, beckoned on party faithful to remain indivisible and united. and expressed hope that the party shall regain its pride of place in the state.

The congress which witnessed a large turn-out of delegates from the 18 LGAS of the state, also elected 38 state executive officers.
