Oyo Teacher Claims Release By Kidnappers Before Arrival of Security Personnel
A teacher rescued after spending 56 days in captivity in Oyo State has claimed that he and the other abducted pupils and teachers were released by their kidnappers before security personnel escorted them home.
Zacchaeus Olatunde said the captives were blindfolded throughout their ordeal and that the abductors identified themselves as members of ISWAP. He said they were fed twice daily, banned from mentioning the name of Jesus in prayers for weeks, and lived under harsh conditions.
Olatunde claimed the kidnappers’ commander eventually announced their release and directed them out of the forest.
