One of the teachers abducted during the attack on a school in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State, Mr. Olatunde Zacchaeus,

has revealed that a long-standing knee condition prevented him from escaping when the kidnappers invaded the school.

Speaking in an interview with Nigeria Info FM, Zacchaeus explained that he initially fled into a nearby bush in an attempt to avoid being captured. However, because he was suffering from arthritis in his knee, he was unable to move quickly enough and was eventually discovered by the armed men.

He said that after he and the other captives were taken deeper into the forest, he informed the kidnappers that he was experiencing severe pain in his knee, which made it difficult for him to walk.

According to Zacchaeus, the kidnappers gave him a drug after listening to his complaint. He claimed that after taking the medication, in the pain from his arthritis unexpectedly disappeared, allowing him to move more comfortably despite the difficult conditions in captivity.

Recounting the experience, Zacchaeus said, “When we were going there, it was miraculous. The leg that I had taken to many hospitals, for which I had bought many medicines and tried different treatments, when I got there and complained to them, they just gave me one drug. After I took the drug, the arthritis went away.”

Zacchaeus’ account highlights another unusual aspect of his ordeal in captivity, where he said a medication given to him by the kidnappers appeared to provide relief from a condition that had troubled him for a long time.
