OPEN LETTER TO GOV OTU ON PAYMENT OF SEVERANCE BY FORMER LG ELECTED CHAIRMEN, VICE, COUNCILLORS
Your Excellency
With the utmost respect, humility, and deep reverence, we, the former Local Government Council Chairmen, Vice Chairmen, Councilors, and Appointees who faithfully served Cross River State between 2021 and 2023, write to you with hearts full of hope and earnest appeal.
We sincerely acknowledge and commend your leadership as the People’s First Governor a compassionate and responsive leader whose administration continues to reflect empathy, fairness, and a genuine commitment to the welfare of the people. It is with great confidence in these admirable qualities that we humbly approach you.
Your Excellency, we respectfully seek your kind intervention in the payment of our outstanding entitlements, particularly our furniture and severance allowances. These are legitimate dues earned through our dedicated service to the state during the administration of His Excellency, Senator Prof. Ben Ayade.
Regrettably, many among us especially the Councilors and Appointees are currently facing severe financial hardship. Some did not benefit adequately during their time in office, and since leaving the Local Government Councils, life has been extremely difficult for a significant number of us and our families. Basic needs have become a challenge, and the situation continues to worsen.
With heavy hearts, we humbly appeal to your compassion. We come before you in a posture of deep humility symbolically kneeling alongside our families seeking your understanding and urgent assistance.
We firmly believe in your well-known kindness and fatherly disposition. You have consistently shown that you listen to the cries of your people, and we trust that you will extend that same grace to us in this moment of need. Your support will not only bring immediate relief but also restore strength, dignity, and hope to many, enabling us to rebuild and prepare ourselves for future civic responsibilities.
Your Excellency, we earnestly pray that you consider our plight and come to our aid. Such an intervention will go a long way in alleviating the suffering of many households and will further cement your legacy as a leader who truly cares for all.
We remain loyal, hopeful, and confident in your benevolence. May Almighty God guide your heart and grant you wisdom as you consider our appeal.
Thank you for your time, understanding, and anticipated action.
Yours faithfully,
Committee of Former Cross River State Local Government Council Chairmen, Vice Chairmen, Councilors, and Appointees (2021–2023)
