One Year of Impact: Hon. Anom Transforms Etung with Bold Development Strides
By Ebi COLLINS
In just one year of purposeful and people-centered leadership, the Executive Chairman of Etung Local Government Area, Hon. Henry Njar Anom, has recorded remarkable achievements that have reshaped the socio-economic landscape of the LGA. His administration’s accomplishments span infrastructure, energy, transportation, water, security, and community welfare, reflecting a clear vision for sustainable development.
Upon assumption of office, the Anom-led administration prioritized peace and security by strengthening the local security architecture. This proactive approach has resulted in relative peace and peaceful coexistence among residents across Etung’s communities, providing the stable environment necessary for development to thrive.
To improve governance efficiency, Hon. Anom embarked on the renovation and furnishing of the Council Secretariat, transforming it into a more conducive workspace for effective service delivery. The Finance and Supplies Department also received a new lease of life through a complete re-roofing exercise.
In addressing the transportation challenges facing both staff and residents, the administration procured four mini buses to ease movement and reduce transport costs. Recognizing the unique needs of riverine communities, two Yamaha 40 outboard engines were also purchased to boost local trade and connectivity.
As part of efforts to ensure uninterrupted power supply, solar power systems were installed at the Administrative Department and the Legislature, promoting clean energy use and cost efficiency. Similarly, the rehabilitation of two boreholes at the Council Secretariat improved access to potable water for workers and nearby communities.
Construction works are progressing steadily on several key projects, including the Etung Central Motor Park, Mkpot Community Hall, and a Staff Canteen, all designed to enhance community infrastructure and staff welfare.
Meanwhile, the Corpers’ Lodge and 30 units of open market stalls at Etomi have been completed and are awaiting commissioning, projects that reflect Hon. Anom’s commitment to youth welfare and grassroots economic growth.
Hon. Anom’s administration also undertook intervention works at the Etung Magistrate Court, repairing the roof and offices to ensure better judicial operations. These efforts underscore his focus on strengthening institutions and improving public service delivery.
Speaking on the achievements, Hon. Anom reaffirmed his dedication to inclusive governance and sustainable development:
“Our focus is on building a peaceful, progressive, and united Etung where every community benefits from government presence. This first year is only the foundation of what we intend to achieve.”
Residents across Etung have applauded the Chairman’s leadership, describing his first year in office as “transformative, transparent, and focused on results.”
As his administration enters its second year, Etung stands as a model of effective grassroots governance; a testament to what can be achieved through vision, accountability, and commitment to community service.
