NUJ Chairman Archibong Bassey Named Among Cross River’s Top 100 Women 2026

The Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Cross River State Council, Comrade Archibong Bassey, has been named among the 100 Most Influential Women in Cross River State, 2026.
Bassey’s selection was conveyed in a congratulatory letter from the editorial team, which stated that she emerged on the final list after consideration alongside several other nominees.
According to the organisers, the women were chosen based on their accomplishments, leadership, and the inspirational impact of their individual journeys.
Archibong Bassey's inclusion in the list is described as a landmark moment as the first female Chairman of NUJ Cross River Council.
The event which is set to hold ay the state library Calabar by 3pm is organised by the Cross River State Library Board in collaboration with the Office of the Wife of the Governor, the Ministry of Women Affairs and authored by Amb. D. Eme-Ekanem Awatt, Chairman of the state Library Board.
The "Leading Ladies 2026 list highlights women from diverse sectors including the media, entrepreneurship, grassroots mobilization, education and public service.
Other notable honourees who made the list include the wife of the governor Bishop Mrs. Eyoanwan Otu, Dr. Linda Ayade, Mrs. Obioma Imoke, Onari Duke, Sen. Florence Ita-Giwa, Mrs. Catherine Agba-Ajibike of the Obudu Women Network for grassroots advocacy, Amb. Nkoyo Toyo, Dr. Mrs Teresa Ikeen, Hon. Justice Akon Ikpeme, Chief Judge of the State and Rt. Hon. Chief Mrs. Majorie Eyo Asuquo, candidate for Calabar South Constituency 2.
