"No Restriction of Movement During October Environmental Sanitation" ~ Environment Commissioner

The Cross River State Government has announced that the statewide monthly environmental sanitation exercise for October will hold on Saturday, October 31, 2026.

In a statement signed by the state Commissioner for Environment, Barr Bassey Offiong Mensah, the exercise will hold between 7:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. across the state.

He stated that due to the 4th edition of the Calabar Marathon billed to hold concurrently on October 31st, there will be no restriction on human movement in Calabar Metropolis.

It added that vehicular movement will be restricted along the marathon routes covering Millennium Park, Mary Slessor, Marian, MCC, Highway and Marina Resort.

The statement directed that all markets, shops and business premises should remain closed during the sanitation period.

It urged residents to participate actively in cleaning their surroundings, clearing drainages and gutters, and properly disposing of waste warning that defaulters will be prosecuted..
