Yache Nation Endorses Otu For Second Term, Hails Gov't For Ongoing Rural Transformation

The Yache Nation in Yala local government area has endorsed Senator Prince Bassey Edet Otu for a second term from 2027-2031.
Otu was unanimously endorsed at the Yache Nation Town Hall meeting held on Saturday, March 29, 2025, at Alifokpa, the headquarters of Yache, Yala Local Government Area of Cross River State, under the leadership of Distinguished Senator Associate Professor Stephen Odey, Commissioner for Education, Cross River State (Oyorgu 1 of Yache Nation).
The endorsement was witnessed by top political appointees Dr. Egbe Ayuk, Commissioner for Health Cross River State, Barrister Odum Ijom Ukam, Commissioner for Youths, and Hon Elder Dr. Fred Okem, Executive Chairman of Yala local government area, and Hon Steve Ogbaji, secretary of council, Yala LGA.
The Yache endorsement is coming barely after some groups in Southern senatorial districts have done the same, paving the way for a smooth ride to 2027 elections.
In his address, Odey commended Governor Bassey Edet Otu for making history as the first governor to visit Yache, enumerating the ongoing transformation in Yache including the construction of the Yache Alifokpa road, the first tarred road in Yache, the ongoing Akreha bridge construction and employment opportunities.
The Commissioner for Education promised to be more committed to Yache's development, emphasising that Yache peace, unity, and progress are sacrosanct, adding that his people are solidly behind Otu, thus the endorsement to continue his blood works interrupted.
He, however, presented scholarships to 33 students of Yache origin and one from Okpudu in Okpoma ward just as he also gifted cash to each of Yache's six clans, elders, and chiefs.
Speaking at the event, Aji/Endichui, Ewor, and Okani clans also expressed their support for Senator Odey's leadership and pledged loyalty to him and Governor Prince Bassey Otu for the continued development of Yache
I'm his remarks, Hon Dr Fred Okem, Executive Chairman of Yala local government arwa, promised to improve the economy of Yache people by grading their feeder roads, ring-road from Echumofana to Ijiegu Yache to Wonye to Uchu to Alifokpa.
He announced plans for massive investments in Agriculture and donated N1m to support the people of Yache just as he commended them for their massive votes during the local government election.
Hailing Odey for his exemplary leadership and committed to delivering dividends of democracy to his people, Dr. Egbe Ayuk, Commissioner for Health, promised to upfrade the Yache Comprehensive Primary Health Centre to a cottage hospital that will provide free medical services to vulnerable populations, including children, pregnant women, nursing mothers, and the elderly.
Also speaking, Barrister Odum Ijom Ukam, Commissioner for Youths, commended Senator Odey for consistently putting the people first and praised the Yache people for celebrating their son and leader.
