WASTE MANAGEMENT: C'RIVER GOV'T POSITIONS BINS ON STREETS OF CALABAR
By Benjamin GBOR
The Cross River State Government has successfully rolled out its waste bin distribution initiative across the state capital, Calabar, as part of efforts to restore the city's reputation for cleanliness and environmental sustainability.
The waste bins have already been strategically placed in residential areas, markets, and public spaces, providing residents with accessible options for proper waste disposal. This initiative is part of the government's broader campaign to promote hygiene and reduce environmental pollution in the city.
We are committed to bringing Calabar back to its glory days as one of Nigeria's cleanest cities,” a government representative stated. “The placement of these waste bins is just the beginning. We are also working on sensitizing the public on the importance of proper waste management.”
The initiative has been met with positive reactions from residents and stakeholders, who believe the effort will improve sanitation and enhance the city's image. Authorities have also warned of strict penalties for those who fail to use the waste bins properly, emphasizing the need for public cooperation.
This move is expected to significantly impact Calabar’s environmental health and re-establish its reputation as a clean and green city.
