UNICROSS Staff Explain Why They Are on an Indefinite Strike

The Joint Action Committee (JAC) NASU, SSANU and NAAT of the University of
Cross River State had explained why they have embarked on an indefinite industrial action.

According to the 3 Unions, they had to proceed on strike as several correspondences to Management, Council and
Government drawing attention to the burning welfare issues were not responded to 

The release by JAC listed the issues to include increase in monthly subvention to the University, Implementation of 25%/35% consequential salary adjustment, payment of approval of N90m palliative to University Staff,
absence of capital projects by the state government encroachment into the University land across the four (4) campuses with its
attendant security challenges, non payment of May, 2022 Salary arrears to UNICROSS Staff and three (3) months Salary arrears of July, August and September, 2021 to thirteen (13)
UNICROSS Staff schools teachers.


Others include payment of arrears from:
Earned Allowance, promotions, hazard allowance, Examination Administration Allowance, payment of deductions from Staff
salaries fro. National Housing Fund, Staff Welfare Committees, Cooperative Societies, Loans from Commercial Banks, Unions Check-off Dues, and non-Implementation of the newly approved national minimum wage.
