UNICAL Sweeps All Three Science, Innovative Research Positions At TETFUND R4i 16 In Abuja
The University of Calabar has won the first, runner-up, and third place positions for Science and Innovative Research at the just-concluded 16th edition of the TETfund Research for Impact Initiative (R4i 16) in Abuja.
The team, during a visit to the Vice-Chancellor Prof. Florence Banku Obi for briefing, made it known to Management that, they presented a biogas prototype christened 'Gasglow', a biofuel machinery which when fully developed and patented, will be commercialized to serve the alternative and clean energy need of society. The invention taps into the Nigerian Renewable Energy Master Plan, and promotes the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals Provisions of Article 7 ("ensure access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for all”).
The TETfair exercise which held in December 7th to 9th, 2023 with the theme; Ideation, Innovation & Solution, is sponsored by TETFund in collaboration with Innov8 Hub to give hands-on training to Scholars and deepen their knowledge on Scientific Research and Innovative Education.
The Unical Contingent to R4i 16 included Prof. Ausaji Ayuk ( Team Lead), Prof. Ernest Bassey Asikong, Dr. Mrs. Idongesit Etim, Dr. Micheal Akpe, and Mr. Oko Alexander Abraham.
This feat has again proven that the University of Calabar under Prof. Obi's leadership is waxing stronger in virtually every sphere, with a renewed hope of all-round academic excellence from both the lecturers and the Students.
