CRS Northern Elites take Medical Outreach to Belegete IDP Camp ... Donate Clothes, Mattresses
By Hannah ARIKPO
A delegation representing Who is Who in Cross River North has carried out free medical services to Belegete community currently taking refuge at the Obudu Ranch Resort.
Items presented include, clothing, mattresses (foams), mosquito nets among others while the medical team attended to internally displaced persons by carrying out free treatment and test.
The donation, coupled with the ongoing engagement with the community, is a deliberate strategy to contribute to the healing and eventual reintegration of the Belegete people into the broader Cross River North community.
Addressing the IDPs, Dr Dom Cklaimz Enamhe, reiterated the team's Commitment towards alleviating the suffering of the Belegete people stressing the need for a better understanding to address the root cause of the crisis, mitigating its consequences as well as attract government attention and humanitarian organizations to the plight of the community.
He emphasized the importance of cultural identity and regional unity in upholding communal values as the team aims to reintegrate the Belegete people into the mainstream of the Cross River North community so as to accord them a renewed sense of belonging.
In an interactive session with the IDPs, it was obvious that the challenges faced by the people extended beyond the initial crisis with the harsh weather conditions and inadequate supplies reportedly taking a toll, leading to unfortunate deaths within the community.
"We assure you of our solidarity and unreserved support," they pledged.
Despite its peaceful nature, the Belegete community found itself in the complexities of a border region, unfamiliar with the Ambazonian separatist, the residents were caught off guard by the violent attack on their village.
Their readiness to return to their homeland demonstrated a strong desire to reclaim their natural habitat despite the hardship faced at the IDPs camp.
The delegation comprises, Dr Dom Cklaimz Enamhe, Prof. John Undie, Dr. Isaac Ishamali, Dr Mary Mark Ogbeche, Dr. Martina Ntino and Mr Roland Ugeh all of Cross River North.
The visit is the second in a series since the Belegete crisis began.
