UNICAL Suspends Livison Arikpo Over Alleged Breaching Of Matriculation Oath.

By Missang AKPET

Livingson Arikpo, a student of Fisheries and Aquaculture in the
University of Calabar has been suspended from the University for alleged involvement in acts of lawlessness capable of disrupting the peace and serenity of the University.

Arikpo who prides himself as the "Governor General of Malabor Republic" had earlier been reported to have locked the former SUG President out of his official residence in the hostel, demanding that he (Livingson Arikpo) be "settled as a stakeholder" in the Student Union Government shortly after the inauguration of the (SUG) Executives.

On Tuesday July 2nd, Livingson was alleged to have taken advantage of the epileptic power supply on campus to mobilize students on a peaceful protest, locking out staff and students out of the campus, refussing all requests by the SUG President and the Dean of Students Affairs to open the gates as well as putting off the generator that supplies power to the pumping machine used to supply water to the hostels forcefully with the intent to incite the students against the University Administration.

According to a letter of suspension addressed to the affected student and signed by the University Registrar, Mr Gabriel Egbe, the suspension takes effect from Wednesday 3 July, 2024 while the matter has been referred to the Students' Disciplinary Committee for further investigation.

Accordingly, Livinson has been enjoined to stay away from the premises of the University of Calabar unless being invited to respond to the invitation of the Disciplinary Committee while the Dean, faculty of Agriculture, HOD, Fisheries and the Ag. Chief Security Officer have equally been enjoined to ensure strict compliance with the directive.
