By Ukpa ABRAHAM

The Parish Priiest of St. Paul's Parish, University of Calabar, Rev. Fr. (Dr) Emmanuel Duke, has called on principal officers and management staff of the University of Calabar to work in tandem with the institution's Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Florence Banku Obi, to achieve her vision for the university.

The Priest made the call during a holy mass celebrated yesterday at the Vice-Chancellor's office in Calabar. According to him, "as principal officers and Management staff of the institution serving in various capacities, serve with the fear of God so that your lives will be pleasing to God; work in tandem with the VC to achieve her vision for the University; respect constituted authority as it is God who enthrones Kings and Queens".

The holy mass usually takes place every 1st Monday of the Month to pray for the University and management of the Institution.

It was also confirmed that the practice was started by the 9th Vice-Chancellor of the University, Prof. James Epoke while the incumbent VC has not only sustained it but taken it to a higher level.

The Mass which was assisted by Rev. Fr. (Dr) Emmanuel Bekomson had the various intentions prayed for while re-dedicating the University community to God's able hands.

The event attracted the presence of the Vice-Chancellor of the Institution, Prof. Florence Banku Obi, the 9th Vice-Chancellor of the Institution, Prof. James Epoke, principal officers of the University, Deans, Directors, and Heads of Departments.

The Principal of the University Basic Secondary School, Mr. Philemon Bebia took the first reading while the Deputy Vice-Chancellor Administration, Prof. Eno Grace Nta took the second reading.

Highlight of the holy mass was vibrant songs of praise and testimony by participants including Prof. Patrick Egaga who recently regained freedom after more than 30 days of being held hostage by kidnappers.
