Soccer Talent Hunt Ends In Calabar 

A 2-day mini soccer tournament involving 14 teams drawn from 5 states around South-South and South East regions of Nigeria has been concluded in Calabar. 

Organised by Agbo Sports in collaboration with  Diamond Stars Football Academy, the scouting programme was floated to enable budding talents from the participating clubs to showcase their talents before possible selection who were on hand to witness the exhibition tournament.

Speaking, coordinator of Agbo Sports, Daniel Thomas revealed that "the concept was intended to provide a viable platform for our youths to impress the scouts African and European clubs with their  natural  talent to get the much desired foreign exposure."

"We have interest from Asec Mimosa in Ivory Coast,Young African from Tanzania, 

Egyptian,South African and Asian clubs. Once we spot a potential star, we package such a player, proceeds with the needed formalities and link the player to the club for proper grooming and gradual exposure to limelight."

In his remarks, the chairman of Diamond Stars Onyeka Onyekwelu posited the private approach became  inevitable due to lack government support.

"We came up with the idea to global exposure for our upcoming stars rather than folding our hands while the abundance talents rot away, hence the synergy between Diamond Stars and Agbo Sports having identified interested clubs."

Participating clubs in the event included Leopard FC, Diamond Stars, General Ubi Boys, and Hope of Glory FC all from Cross River while Akwa Ibom paraded Blessed Stars FC, Abia has Solo FC, Right to Win, and Uchecharia FC. Okuru Ama FC, Family Love, Will Bros, and Swam Berry FC represented Rivers while Khalifat FC came from Imo.
