Rivers State Gov't Allocates N3.5bn For Renovation of Fubara's Residence in 2025 Budget.
Rivers State Government has allocated an additional N3.5 billion for the renovation of Governor Siminalayi Fubara's residence.
Lere Olayinka, the position of Senior Special Assistant on New Media and Public Communications under the former Governor of Rivers State and current Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, disclosed this in his official the social media platform X (previously known as Twitter).
This statement seemed to carry an underlying message directed at the incumbent Governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara.
Olayinka’s post, though not explicitly naming anyone, appeared to be a veiled critique or observation regarding the current administration or its policies, sparking discussions among followers and political observers.
His role as a key figure in public communications and media strategy for Wike adds weight to his remarks, as they are often interpreted as reflective of the political dynamics and tensions within the state. This incident highlights the growing influence of social media as a platform for political discourse and indirect communication among public figures in Nigeria.
In a post shared on his official X handle, Lere Olayinka, who is also the Special Adviser to the former Rivers State Governor, alleged that the Rivers State government has allocated an additional N3.5 billion for the renovation of Governor Siminalayi Fubara's residence.
He further pointed out that a sum of N3.2 billion had already been set aside for the same purpose in the year 2024. His post strongly implied disapproval of the reported amount budgeted for refurbishing the Governor’s residence in consecutive years.
In his words, Lere Olayinka wrote, "Rivers State Govt Budgets N3.5 billion To Renovate Governor Fubara's Residence In 2025 After Spending N3.2 billion On Same Item In 2024."
