Public Health Staff Admonished To Render Selfless Service

The Commissioner, Ministry of International Donor Coordination, Hon. Hippolatus Lukpata has admonished Public Health Professionals from Department of Public Health, University of Calabar to accept their assigned roles as a mandate from God to render selfless service to the public or society.
He gave the admonition when he received the Staff of the Department who paid him a courtesy visit in his office at the New Secretariat Complex, Calabar.
He said since nobody knows what tomorrow holds, or will present, they should continue with their dedicated services to the public, pointing out that, the Government is interested in creating a robust synergies with the Department to develop the needed Human Resources for Health manpower.
According to the Commissioner, His Excellency, Senator. Prince. Bassey Edet Otu is revitalizing the healthcare system through the renovation and upgrading of equipments in the various health institutions across the State in keeping with his "people first" mantra.
The Commissioner informed them of the virtual courtesy call by Cross Riverians in the diaspora, who are willing to support the development of the State courtesy of how carefully the Governor selected members of the State Executive Council, stating that, such action has rekindle their assurances that the Governor is seriously committed to the task of rebuilding the State for the good of all.
He said sadly, 70% of the State population reside in the rural areas which received poor attention in the area of healthcare development whereas emphasis or priority is given to the 30% which resides in the urban centres and assured that the Government of Senator Bassey Otu has taken steps to address the situation
Earlier, the leader of the group, Dr. Aniekanabasi J. Okon, said members of Public Health Professionals of Nigeria, University of Calabar came to express their gratitude for his appointment as Hon. Commissioner, and that, graduands of Public Health Department are well represented in the present State Executive Council, therefore, there are proud of the Government which they see as theirs.
