The Special Adviser to the Governor on Social Housing, Prince Ekanem Ekpo, has called for collaboration between developers and the government to address the housing deficit faced by Cross River state.

Addressing developers at the State Fabrication Academy Complex, Calabar, Ekpo acknowledging the paramount importance of shelter, adding that housing stands as the second most essential human need after food.

Ekpo stressed the urgency of implementing social housing initiatives tailored to meet the needs of low-income earners, saying "the state faces challenges of availability and affordability of housing according to the current data."

He said a thriving housing sector not only signifies robust state investment programs, but also lays the groundwork for future economic growth and social advancement.

Expressing gratitude to the Governor of Cross River State for his unwavering commitment to development and public service, the SA states that housing transcends mere shelter.

"The importance of ensuring quality, comfort, and the provision of social and community amenities within housing developments, calling for collective efforts to address the housing challenge.

"Therefore, there is urgent need for partnership between the government and developers is essential to provide affordable housing solutions for low-income earners," he stated.
