C'River: Gov Otu Extols Achievements Of BYU-Pathway Worldwide As It Graduates 89

The Cross River State Governor, Senator Bassey Otu has acknowledged the accomplishments of the Brigham Young University, Pathway Worldwide as it graduated 89 outstanding individuals under the watch of the Church of Jesus Christ of latter-day Saints, Calabar.
Governor Otu admitted the transformative power of education as a beacon of enlightenment in fostering intellectual growth and shaping the character of it's students.
Otu who was represented by the Speaker of the Cross River State House of Assembly,Rt. Hon Elvert Ayambem at the graduation ceremony of Brigham Young University Pathway Worldwide observed that the institution, founded on February 7,2009 has not only provided a platform for academic excellence but has also contributed significantly to the socio-economic progress of the state.
He stated that the 6,500 students in Nigeria, particularly those from the State have been empowered with knowledge that transcends textbooks and classrooms.
"Education is not merely the accumulation of facts; it's a journey of self discovery, character development, and the acquisition of values essential for the survival of individuals and societies. Today as we witness the culmination of the efforts of these graduates , we are reminded of the profound impact that education has in shaping the destiny of a people " the governor stressed.
He told the graduates to see the ceremony as the beginning of a new chapter in their lives, filled with promise, responsibility and pursuit of excellence and urge them to remember the values instilled in them and the potential they carry to make a positive impact.
While congratulating each graduate, families and the entire Brigham Young University Community His Excellency ,governor Otu prayed that their journey ahead be marked by success, fulfillment, and a commitment to the betterment of Cross River State.
Addressing guests, graduates and members,Dr Victor B Ukorebi, International Area Manager, BYU, Pathway Worldwide stressed on the merits of courage, honesty, right attitude, neatness, gratitude among other attributes which when possessed will be beneficial.
Dr Ukorebi advised them to hold onto the scriptures, citing Joshua 1:5-9 and stated that the attributes so highlighted are of essence and would make them a delight in the labour market.
In her address, Associate Prof and DIrector Pre-degree Programme, University of Calabar, Prof Genevieve Aglador told the students not to go after quick money but that "each of you individually and collectively can change the Nigeria story for better."
Prof Aglador pointed out ," Don't underestimate the potential of one person and that life will always remain uncertain until the end and cautioned the graduates against the negative influences of social media advising them to consider it an amazing tool that could be used for the good of the country.
Speaking also Brother Asuquo Udobong, Online Institute DIrector counselled on the importance of the Institute of Religion and admonished all to attend as it deepens ones conversion and faith in the Lord.
According to Udobong attending the Institute also brings about friendship, a sense of belonging and happiness.
Making his own comments, President Akwaowo Joseph Ekong, President Calabar North Stake who presided at the ceremony acknowledged the benefits of the programme and admitted that with their graduation,they have increased in learning and are better prepared to add value to self, family and society.
Others who graced the ceremony include, President Alex Nkoro , President Calabar Stake, who conducted the proceedings, President Samuel Ukoha, President Calabar South Stake,gave the Welcome address , President Akamkpa Stake and Sister Weyinmi Winifred Wonodi, Director ,Communication Porthacourt and Uyo Coordinating Councils.
