One Dead, Others Injured As Rampaging Hoodlums Ambush Police Patrol Team In Ebonyi

The Ebonyi State Police Command yesterday confirmed the death of one of its officers after a gun duel with some rampaging hoodlums.
According to the Police the incident happened around 11:00 am, along Ngbo-Effium road when a police patrol team came under serious attack from the hoodlums who were operating in an Ash-coloured Toyota Sienna with a concealed registration number.
A statement signed by the Acting Police Public Relations Officer, Ag. PPRO, DSP Joshua Ukandu, stated that the operatives responded with fierce gun fire a against the hoodlums, adding that one of the operatives was killed while one is currently receiving medical treatment at the hospital.
He noted that the State Commissioner of Police, CP Augustina Ogbodo immediately dispatched tactical teams of the command to the scene, who are currently on the trail of the hoodlums.
The acting PPRO assured that calm and normalcy have been restored to the area to the area and urged members of the public to continue with their legitimate business while monitoring the activities of questionable individuals.
"The CP is using this medium to call on well-meaning individuals of the State to avail the Command with useful information that can lead to the arrest of the fleeing hoodlums.
He assured that the command remains unwavering in its commitment towards the protection of lives and properties in the state.
