Obubra Council Chairman Raises The Alarm Over Destruction of Health Facilities

The Chairman of Obubra Local Government Council in Cross River, Hon.Kingsley Arikpo has raised alarm over the destruction of health facilities and has ordered an on-the-spot assessment of all Health facilities ravaged by internal crisis in the council area.
The measure is to enable him make an informed decision aimed at rehabilitating them.
Arikpo gave the order during the flag-off of the ongoing immunisation campaign against vaccine preventable diseases at the temporary site of Apiapum Health Centre in Obubra Local Government Area of the state.
Administering the vaccine, the Chairman, advised all pregnant women and nursing mothers to always avail themselves and children children of available prompt vaccination opportunities and other anti- natal activities at the nearest health facility to reduce child mortality rate.
Arikpo, who decried the wanton damage of drugs and their storage facilities razed down as a result of internal crisis that rocked the local government area in recent times, called on the Federal government to consider the health needs of the people by providing the needed vaccines and other routine drugs to save lives at the community health posts.
He assured the people of rehabilitating all moribund health centres in all wards of the Council area, as the leader of a people-oriented government.
The chairman, who was represented by the Supervisor for Health Hon. Orim Okpa Etaba, used the occasion to task the people on the need for peaceful co-existence.
Responding, a woman leader in Apiapum, Madam Sarah Iron, thanked the Chairman for raising the people's hope for their health need.
Decrying lack of accommodation and sitting arrangements for pregnant women and nursing mothers, she explained that the dilapidation of most of the facilities was as a result of the neglect by previous Council administrations.
She lauded the State Governor, Prince Bassey Otu, for changing the face of local government councils with new administrations.
