Jarigbe Carpets Ayade At Tribunal

Elections Petition Tribunal sitting in Calabar, Cross River state has upheld Senator Agom Jarigbe Agom as winner of the February 25, 2023 senatorial elections.
Giving judgement today in Calabar, the tribunal dismissed the petition on grounds of lack of evidence.
Justice M A Sambo leading two other Justices said the petitioner could not prove beyond reasonable doubts that conduct of the elections didn't comply with the relavant laws.
Ayade had via suit number EPT/CR/EN/02/2023 approached the Tribunal to nullify Agom's election on grounds of Malpractices and acts that contradict the provision of the electoral act.
The former governor also queried the votes cast in 377 units in the northern senatorial district.
Speaking after the judgement, the leading Counsel for Senator Agom Jarigbe Agom, Mba Ukweni said the judgement was a confirmation of the madate already given by the Northern Senatorial District.
Ukweni said Ben Ayade had no reason to go to the tribunal because he was already rejected by the Northern Senatorial District .
He said Ayade had no business coming to the tribunal because the tribunal is not meant to reject the will of the people but to uphold.
