Crisis Rocks South South PDP As NWC Sets Up Caretaker After Wike-led Calabar Congress

Crisis rocking Propels Democratic Party (PDP) has continued unabated as the National Working Committee (NWC) set up a caretaker committee to oversee its South-South operations.
The committee is levy Emma Ogidi as chairman, with Damiete Herbert-Miller as secretary.
Other members include Nicholas Ayuwa, Godwin Akpan Udonta, Bekewei Ashanti, Idehen Ebomoyim, and Dame Vivian Ahanmisi.
Nicholas Ayuwa is the Cross River state representative in the committee and is from Abi and a close ally of former Governor Liyel Imoke.
This is coming barely three weeks after Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, led other party chieftains including members of NASS to conduct South South Zonal Congress in Calabar where Dan Orbih and others were elected as Zonal leaders for the next four years
In a statement issued by its National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, the PDP National Working Committee (NWC) emphasized the committee was set up to prevent a leadership vacuum, adding that this move follows the expiration of the zonal executive’s tenure on March 9, 2025.
The committee, chaired by Emma Ogidi, will oversee the zone’s activities for three months or until a new executive is elected.
The PDP's National Working Committee (NWC), led by acting National Chairman Umar Damagum, disregarded Wike’s position and appointed a caretaker committee.
