Ishiagu Women Holds August Meeting With Fanfare

The women group of Ishiagu Community Development Union has celebrated their August meeting with fanfare.
The August meeting is one of the annual cultural festivals aimed at uniting the women folk, promote Igbo tradition and culture as well as engage in other community development.
The Ishiagu women 2024 August meeting held at the Ishiagu Central School in Ivo LGA Ebonyi state, attracted women from home and in diaspora to discuss the way forward of their community and the state.
Speaking at the occasion, the President-General ICDU women wing federated, Mrs. Helen Ugo, commended the women for massive turn out and participating actively in the activities that marked their special 2024 August meeting.
She also commended the state governor for his overwhelming love for women through the pet projects of the wife of the governor as well as thanked the chairman of Ivo LGA, Hon Ajah Ogbonnaya, for his exemplary leadership and also carrying women along in the activities of the LGA. She also eulogized the honourable commissioner for water resources, Hon Magnus Nkah, for always supporting the activities of the women.
While addressing the women, the honourable commissioner for water resources, Hon Magnus Chinedum Nkah, commended the leadership of ICDU federated for organising such a cultural event to mark the August meeting of Ishiagu women, advising them to carry all women of Ishiagu along in their future organisation and ensure that all women of Ishiagu participating fully.
Eulogizing the women, he said: "Women are catalyst for societal development and that no society can thrive without the efforts of the women and that's why the state Governor, Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, is doing everything possible in line with his people's charter of needs in ensuring that Ebonyi women receive the best of care and empowerment.
"I pledge to support the women always with my good office and promise to represent the Governor's wife very well in their respective homes," he said.
In attendance include Hon Ajah Ogbonnaya (Executive chairman Ivo DC), represented by Chief Joseph Ogbonnaya Onu, the Coordinator of Ivo Dc, Hon Ajah Ikenna and other stakeholders of Ivo local government area. The event witnessed display of special traditional dances, rendition of songs by various women groups, breaking of kola nut and a mini fundraising to support women.
