Gov Eno Hails Socio-cultural Group, Mpkarawa Ibibio, For Preaching Peace, Unity Among Akwa Ibomites

The Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Umo Eno, has hailed a Socio-cultural Organisation in Akwa Ibom Ibom, the Mboho Mkparawa Ibibio, for fostering peace and unity amongst the different ethnic groups in the state.

Speaking at an event tagged Special Evening with Members of Mboho at the weekend at the International Secretariat of the Mboho, along Udo Udoma Avenue, the Governor stated that he was delighted to see how youths, though not in age, but in minds and purpose, from diverse ethnic groups come together as an entity to contribute to the growth, development and oneness of Akwa Ibom state just as their motto, Oneness for Service.

Pastor Imo Eno said: "I know that MMI has always been a rallying point for young men from Ibibio to work together.

Above all I commend you for the role you have played in uniting our people, and lending your support to my administration.

"The cordial relationship that is existing between the Ati-Annang, Esu Nlap Oro, the Obolos and other ethnic extraction across Akwa Ibom could not have been possible without the efforts of MMI.

"Besides, the achievements recorded in my administration for the past fifteen months have been possible by the cordial relationship and unity which Akwa Ibom has witnessed as a people.

So, I am ready to partner MMI to achieve people oriented leadership and to actualize the ARISE Agenda."

Speaking earlier, the International President of Mboho Mkparawa Ibibio, Akparawa James Edet, said Governor Eno's visionary leadership has improved upon the agricultural practices, enriched the rural areas with modern amenities and has improved the infrastructural development in Akwa Ibom State.

"Pastor Umo Eno's leadership style has exemplified empathy and understanding of the plights faced by the most vulnerable.

He has shown that true leadership is about compassion and service to the people.

The compassionate homes constructed for the less privileged have restored hope and dignity to countless families", he stated.

The 11th President of Mboho highlighted that the Governor's empowerment programes has unlocked the potentials of youths and women in areas of skills acquisition, human capital development and startup grants, making them self reliance, while appealing that more members of his socio-cultural group should also be carried along.

Edet further sought for the support of the Governor towards the hosting of the 16th Biennial Lecture for Obong Sampson Udo Etuk scheduled to take place on the 16th of November 2024.

Speaking also, the Chairman of the Advisory Council of MMI cum Executive Chairman of the State Infrastructural and Assets Management and Maintenance Agency, Akparawa (Elder) Udo Sam Umotan, said MMI was very delighted to host the Governor as an Ibibio son and dedicated member of MMI.

 In his vote of thanks, the International Vice President I, and Chairman, Transition Committee, Onna Local Government Area, Akparawa Ini-Abasi Ekanem, thanked God for providing a conducive atmosphere for event.

He appreciated the Governor and his entourage, visitors, guests, friends and well-wishers for honouring their invitation. Other dignatories at the event inckude the Deputy Governor, Senator (Dr.) Akon Eyakenyi; Chairman of PDP in the State, Elder Aniekan Akpan; members of AKSHA; the Head of Civil Service, Elder Effiong Essien; Honourable Commissioners; Permanent Secretaries and other government dignitaries.
