The former Cross River State All Progressives Congress (APC) chairman, Sir John Ochala, has called for caution on the raging cold war between the party leadership and the former presidential aide, Chief Okoi Obono-Obla.
The party recently accused former Presidential aide, Onono-Obla, of anti party activities, saying disciplinary action will be taken against the party chieftain over call for the removal of the party’s leadership.
Reacting in an open advisory letter to leadership and members, Ochala described as disturbing the altercations between the leadership and Obla going on in the media.
Ochala, a pioneer member of APC and who hailed from Yala local government area, made it clear that members has a right to peaceful assembly provided such assemblage is in line with party's constitution.
The letter read in part: "The State Party Chairman is the symbol of the Party in the State, he personifies the Party and any aspersion on the State Party Chairman is directly an aspersion on the Party.
"Every member of the party has a right to peaceful and lawful assembly of the membership at any level, provided such assemblage is in line with the constitution of the party.
"The intent and purpose of the State Party Chairman's directive is understood, but I must say, the message was not well crafted, thus , coming across as dictatorial and unconstitutional.
"This is not enough reason to talk down on the State Party Chairman, there are better ways of correcting such perceptions.
"I, therefore, advise that from henceforth, both sides should be cautious, we are a family and desire same goals and objectives, a house divided against itself cannot stand.
Please let's be guided. I believe we will all take this seriously and move on as one big united family."
