Gov. Bello assures SWAN of support, congratulates President

Kogi Governor, Yahaya Bello has pledged total support of the state government to the new national leadership of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria SWAN, headed by Mr Isaiah Benjamin who hails from the state.

Governor Bello who gave the assurance while receiving the new SWAN President during a courtesy visit in Lokoja said the support is meant to guarantee a successful and results-oriented tenure for the new president 

Governor Bello who expressed joy over the emergence of Comrade Benjamin as the new SWAN President noted that the development "is a source of pride to the state"


He facilitated the SWAN President on his victory describing the development as a win for Kogi and implored 
him to set targets that would propel SWAN to greater heights to make a difference 
as a good Ambassador of the state 

According to Bello;", It is a thing of joy for a Kogi born to emerge as President of SWAN in a keenly contested election which was held in Omoku Rivers State in July 2023. The victory is an indication that Kogi people can lead in any opportunity afforded them"

" I am happy with your emergence as SWAN President, which I see as a win for Kogi State and Nigeria, as a government, we will support you to succeed in the discharge of your duties. Once again, congratulations and wishing you God's guidance, I am happy for you," he added.


Speaking earlier, the SWAN President, Mr Benjamin said he opted to visit the Governor to personally present his certificate of election victory for fatherly blessings.


He solicited the support of the governor and the government of Kogi State while assuring that he would be a good Ambassador of the state in the running of affairs of the association.

"I am indeed grateful for accepting my visit which is to present my certificate of victory as SWAN National President of the Sports Writers of Nigeria and to seek your blessing and support," he remarked
