FG TO ESTABLISH NAVAL BASE IN UWANA-AFIKPO

The Minister of Works, Engr. David Nweze Umahi, has disclosed that the federal government has concluded plans to establish a Naval base in Uwana, Afikpo local government area of Ebonyi state.
Umahi, the immediate past Governor of Ebonyi State, who made the disclosure during an inspection visit to Ndibe Beach in Afikpo recently, stated that Unwana people will soon rejoice as federal government is assiduously working towards establishing a Naval Base in the area.
The base, when operational, will boost security within the riverine communities and boost trade relations between Nigeria and Cameroon as well as provide employment opportunities to indigent sons and daughters.
The former Senator, representing Ebonyi South senatorial district, said he was at Ndibe Beach in Afikpo local government area for final phase of inspection before flagging off the construction of the Bridge that will link it to Cross River.
According to him, the road construction to Abuja is expected to start from Ebonyi state through Cross River, assuring that the project will be completed in record time.
He said: " I wish to inform that the Governor of Ebonyi State will soon come to flag off the construction of the projects on behalf of the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
"I also commend the Executive chairman of Afikpo local government Area for the maturity demonstrated in handling assignments and for bringing Afikpo people together."
Commending, Umahi, the Afikpo local government chairman, Mr Timothy Nwachi, said federal government has demonstrated total love for Ebonyi people by appointing their sons and daughters into positions of responsibility adding that Afikpo people will be happy to see Ndibe Beach Bridge finally constructed, promising that such gesture will be reciprocated accordingly.
