Council Election: Eket Ward 5 Central Exco, Stakeholders Declare Support For Akan Tommey Second Term Bid

Stakeholders of Ward 5 Central and 17 ward executive members have declared their support for the second term of Mr. Akaniyene Tommey, as the chairman of Eket local government.

The critical stakeholders declared their solidarity during a visit to at the residence of the  chairman hopeful at his residence.

Speaking, the ward chairman, Mr. Bassey Hanson, said: "We are here to formally inform you that we are fully in support of your ambition. This is after a consultation and resolution of the ward leaders".

Speaking also, the ward leader, Pst. Godwin Ukwat, said: "The visit is to revalidate their earlier stance. We earlier took this decision, but we wanted to present a documented record of our endorsement, to assure you of our full support".

"The people you're seeing here, Mr. Chairman, they are tested and trusted people to support your ambition.

"We commend the executive chairman hopeful, Mr. Tommey, for his influence that has brought an enabling environment for businesses to thrive.

"It is in your tenure as the chairman that businesses has sprouted within the Local Government Secretariat and by God's grace. This leadership has also birthed a Governor within this same environment. We believe a lot of good things will spin for the growth and prosperity of Eket".

In his response, Mr. Akaniyene Tommey, expressed his delight over the solidarity visit and declaration of support, adding that, "in the footsteps of Pst. Umo Eno, the executive governor of Akwa Ibom State, I will serve the people with to show appreciation of their supports."
