Edu Tasks Journalists On Grants For Vulnerable Groups.

The Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Dr. Beta Edu has called on Journalists in Cross River to track the progress of beneficiaries of the Federal Government's grant initiative for vulnerable groups.
Dr Edu who gave the charge while addressing journalists after the presentation of cheques to the beneficiaries in Calabar stressed the need for journalists to visit the grassroots to allow beneficiaries to tell their stories for themselves.
She contended that the testimonies from the beneficiaries would encourage others and build trust in this lofty intervention effort of the government.
While commending the efforts of some journalists in promoting the activities of her ministry, the Minister charged practitioners to be objective in their reportage and constructive in their criticisms.
In his remarks at the ceremony, the governor of Cross River, Senator Bassey Otu said the vulnerable remain a prime focus of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's welfare programmes noting that the grant would make a significant impact on the lives of the beneficiaries.
Also speaking, the wife of the governor, Rev Eyoawan Otu charged beneficiaries to make good use of the funds so that shortly they would be living better lives.
