Ebonyi in Diaspora Says Gov Nwifuru's Govt Directionless
Omaka OKOH (ABAKALIKI)
The Association of Ebonyi Indigenes Socio-Cultural in the Diaspora (AEISCID), a governance and accountability group, has taken a swipe Governor Francis Nwifuru's administration calling it “directionless.”
In a statement issued by AEISCID President Amb. Pascal Oluchukwu, the group said: We urge the governor to address criticisms with factual and evidence-based responses, rather than resorting to name-calling or personal attacks.
"We also emphasise the importance of opposition voices in a democratic system, asserting that constructive criticism plays a vital role in guiding the government to make informed decisions. AEISCID warned against suppressing dissenting opinions, which are essential for ensuring good governance.
"We, therefore, demand an apology from the “Unwuekumenyi” forum for its derogatory remarks about Chief Ifeanyi Odii, the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) 2023 governorship candidate. AEISCID."
The group further said: " We call on the government’s media handlers to respond to criticisms with reason and evidence, rather than resorting to personal insults.
"AEISCID further cautioned the government against prioritising projects that do not directly benefit the people of Ebonyi.
"The proposed airport project is not a priority for a state grappling with poverty, urging the Nwifuru administration to refocus its policies on initiatives that will genuinely improve the lives of ordinary citizens, rather than catering to the elite"
