From Oko OMAKA, Abakaliki The All Progressives Congress (APC) Senatorial aspirant for the Ebonyi South Zonal by-election, Prof. Anthony Okorie Ani, has called for peaceful co-existence among the people of the state, promising to be a Senator for all of given the mandate to serve at National Assembly.

In the New Year message, Ani expressed profound gratitude to Governor Francis Ogbonnaya Nwifuru and wife, minister of works, Sen. David Nweze Umahi (Akubaraoha), the leadership state APC Chidiebere Uzor for giving him the mandate of the party to contest the February 3 by-election.

The message read in part: "It's me today, it could be you tomorrow because it is turn by turn. I am not going there because I am a professor, intelligent or my background but because you all agreed that I should go and represent you which simply means we are all going to do it together.

"I will be the same Prof Anthony Okorie Ani you know before, I will always answer anytime you call me.

"Therefore,this is nomination, main business for winning our opponents is a collective efforts. And for sure,we will come out victorious.

"I want to state it categorically that what happened in Onicha local government area during last election will not repeat itself again.

"Governor Francis Ogbonnaya Nwifuru will be happy for us during the next general election because we will prove again that Onicha in Ebonyi South is the home for APC for giving him highest number of votes during second Tenure.

"I am happy for this and I will surely make all of you proud if elected as a Senator." 

Hailing Governor Nwifuru, chairman of APC, Chief Stanley Okoro-Emegha, and the entire leadership of the APC in the State for graciously adopting one of the illustrious sons of Onicha, Prof. Anthony Okorie Ani, as the APC consensus candidate for the forthcoming Ebonyi South senatorial district by-election, the chairman of Onicha local government area, Hon. Chidiebere Uzor Agwu, called for support to ensure a successful outing.

Agwu, in a statement signed by Prince Chijioke Agwu, the Media Adviser, said the adoption of Prof. Okorie is in consonance with the principle of equity, justice and fairness upon which the present administration is anchored on.

He called on the people of Ohaozara, Onicha, Ivo, Afikpo and Edda local government areas of Ebonyi South to dust up their Permanent Voters Cards(PVCs) in readiness to vote for Ani on February 3 senatorial by-election. Prof.Okorie Ani is a university don and renown professor of Agricultural extension and is from Onicha Igboeze.

He hails from Enuagu ward in Onicha local govt. Area of Ebonyi State. He lectured in the Faculty of Agriculture University of Maiduguri (UNIMAD) Borno State from where he moved to Federal University of Science & Technology Owerri Imo State and till his emergence as the people choice for the Senate position lectures in the Dept. of Agric Econs & Extension, Faculty of Agric of the said institution.

He was the Pro-Chancellor & Chairman Governing Board of EBSU after the demise of late Dr. Igwe Ajanwachuku.

He is the current Director of NEEDS Assessment in Office of the Vice Chancellor, FUTO and member of the Governing Council of FUTO.
